Author Last Post

Hi Teri, So good to see you here! I'm on the same learning curve as others re these forums, so let's see if you are now signed up! Cathy Learoyd and I will be working on a first meeting for the rural caucus so we can plan how we want to be organized and what we want to do together. We will look for you there! And, in the meantime, please reach out to me personally if there is anything I can do to help you as you get started in Kinney County.

Hi Janis! I met you at the convention. We're working on starting a League at Large in Southwest Texas (Kinney County.) Thank you for starting this forum, and please include me. I didn't see a "sign-up" button so I'm hoping replying will accomplish that. Thank you for the excellent presentation on rural leagues.

If you're attending the LWVTX Convention the end of this week, please join us at our workshop in a discussion about nurturing rural leagues in Texas. Most of the counties in Texas are rural with needs quite different from the large urban leagues such a rural healthcare, broadband access, and voting access to name just three. Looking forward to a great convention!

Cathy Learoyd, Leadership Team Coordinator/President

League of Women Voters - Hill Country Texas

Cathy Learoyd (President, LWV Hill Country TX), and I are excited about the upcoming workshop at the LWVTX Convention - Growing League Presence & Voice in Texas' Rural Communities (Friday, April 8, 3:30 - 5 pm). Our friend Kathleen Stein, President of a rural League in upstate New York state and founder of the New York State League Rural Caucus will join us via Zoom! We are hoping that to find League interest and energy for forming a Texas League Rural Caucus.

If your League serves a rural area - even if you are mostly urban but have some rural - please join us to talk about the possibilities!
