League of Women Voters of Williamson County
The League of Women Voters of Texas (LWV TX) was founded on October 19, 1919. Jessie Daniel Ames, of Georgetown, served as the first president of the League of Women Voters of Texas.
In September 2019, Williamson County became a LWV TX league-at-large. Our first president, Chris Spano, was also from Georgetown.
In 2023 the League of Women Voters of Williamson County became a LWV of Texas local League
LWV Wilco priorities:
- Voter Registration – registering all eligible voters, regularly holding registration events
- Voter Education – providing non-partisan information on candidates, legislation, and voting, to the general public through our community events and our Voters Guide
- First Vote - our High School program providing information about voting and elections, and registering eligible students
- Membership – outreach to Williamson County residents encouraging them to become members or volunteers
We are delighted to continue the work and legacy of the LWV of Texas and Jessie Daniel Ames.
