We Stand Up for Voting!
For more than 100 years, the League of Women Voters has worked to defend democracy and empower voters. The League encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League is nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government.
Founded in 2019 — the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the Texas League — LWV-Wilco is proud to join this history and important mission of
Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy.
We are committed to voter education and voter empowerment in Williamson County. Our League conducts voter registration events throughout the year. Some of our activities include:
- First Vote presentations and voter registration drives on high school campuses;
- Voter registration drives on college campuses and technical schools throughout the county;
- Voter registration / information tables at community events, local businesses, and public libraries; and
- Outreach to assisted living and other senior communities to assist with voting by mail.
At national, state, and local levels, the League of Women Voters believes voter education is the key to ensuring voter turnout in every election. At www.vote411.org, the League provides information including voter registration status and polling locations. For Spring and Fall elections — approximately one week prior to early voting — you can create your own personalized ballot to view and compare candidates; responses to the Voters Guide questions. The site also includes state and national information and helpful links.
